Butter chicken is an Indian Curry / Sauce. It is a chicken curry with butter, cream, and spiced tomato. The gravy is so silky smooth in texture. Once you taste it you will become addicted to it. It is similar to chicken tikka masala, which uses more tomato and less gravy.
Here I am sharing with you the simplest way to cook your favorite Butter chicken in your own kitchen with the restaurant-style taste.
Ingredients
For Chicken;
- Chicken breast (boneless) - 300 gm (cut into thin pieces)
- Red chilli powder -1 Tbsp
- Ginger garlic paste - 1Tbsp
- Yogurt - 2 Tbsp
- Salt
- Oil
For Gravy:
- Tomato - 500gm (cut into small pieces)
- Onion - 100gm (Cut into small pieces)
- Garlic paste - 1 Tbsp
- Garam Masala - 1/2 Tsp
- Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 2 Tbsp
- Kasoori methi - 1 Tsp
- White Vinegar - 1.5Tbsp
- Cashew - 50gm
- Cream - 3 - 4 Tbsp
- Butter - 4 to 5 Tbsp
- Salt
- Sugar - 4 Tbsp
How to cook;
- Marinate the chicken pieces with red chilli powder, Ginger Garlic paste, Yogurt and Salt for 30 to 1 hour.
- In a pan add 2 tbsp butter and add cashew nuts and roast them. remove the roasted cashew into a bowl.
- Now add some oil into the same pan and fry the marinated chicken pieces ( don't overcook, the chicken should be very soft). Once done place it into a bowl.
- In the same pan add oil and butter then add onion and a little salt, once the onions are cooked add tomatoes and cashews.
- Now add Garlic paste, Garam masala, Kashmiri Chilli powder, Vinegar, Salt, Sugar. Saute till the raw smell goes.
- Add water and mix evenly, let it simmer for 20 minutes.
- Allow the mix to cool down.
- Once the mix gets cool, grind it into a fine paste.
- Strain this puree back to the same pan.
- Add Butter, Cream, Fried Chicken, and Kasuri methi and mix well. Let it cook in simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Check for salt, add if needed.
- Cook until the gravy thickens.
- Add fresh Cream and Kasuri methi for Garnishing.
Butter Chicken is ready to serve. Enjoy.
