Cabbage Bajji - Easy Evening Snack || Infothora Recipe

Bajji is an Indian snack similar to a fritter. Common bajjis are Mulak bajji / Chilli bajji, Egg bajji, Raw Banana/ Vazhakka bajji, etc... Cabbage Bajji is an easy evening snack made of cabbage.  


Ingredients

Cabbage - Small finger-sized
Gram Flour / Kadalamavu - 1/2 cup
Rice flour - 2 tbsp
Kashmiri chilli powder - 1 pinch
Turmeric powder - 1 pinch
Asafoetida  ( kaayam) - 1 pinch
Water  - for preparing the batter
Salt
Sunflower oil

Preparations

  • Cut cleaned cabbage to finger-sized pieces.
  • Take a bowl and add Gram flour (Kadalamavu), rice flour, Kashmiri chilli powder, Turmeric powder, Asafoetida, salt and mix it. Add water little by little to make a semi-thick batter. 
  • Allow the batter to rest for 5 minutes.
  • Heat Sunflower oil in a frying pan. 
  • Dip the cabbage pieces into the batter fully and put them into the hot oil. 
  • Deep fry the cabbage pieces to a crisp golden brown colour.
  • Serve hot with your favorite chutney ( tomato chutney is usually served with bajji)
