Ingredients


Fish Marination
  • 500g - Fish (King Fish)
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tbsp - Chilli Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 lemon juice
  • 3-4 tbsp - Water
  • 4-5 tbsp - Sunflower Oil

Fish Masala/gravy

  • 3 Onions
  • 8 - Garlic (big)
  • Small piece ginger
  • 6 Green chilli ( add more if you need)
  • 1 tsp - Gram Masala
  • 1 tsp - black pepper
  • 1 1/2 - Tomatoes
  • 1-2 tbsp - lime juice
  • Few mint leaves
  • Handful - coriander leaves

For Rice
  • 2 cup - Jeerakasala rice
  • 2tbsp - Ghee
  • 3 tbsp - Sunflower oil
  • Cloves, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Bay leaves
  • 3 cups - Hot water
  • Salt
For Dum

  • Fried onions
  • 2 tbsp - Turmeric water
  • 1 - carrot
  • Mint and coriander leaves
  • 1tsp - Garam Masala/ Fish biryani masala 

Preparation

Fish Preparation

1. Clean the fish. Now add turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt to taste, half to one lime juice, and water into a bowl to make a paste. Apply it to the Fish one by one. leave it for 15 to 20 minutes for marination.

2. Place a pan on the stove and add the sunflower oil. Put the fish into the pan and fry it. Remove the fried fish pieces to a plate.

3. Put garlic, ginger, and green chillis in a mixer grinder and make a paste.

Biryani Masala / Gravy Preparation

1. In the same pan, in which fish is fried add some sunflower oil and add sliced onions and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Add salt to taste.

2. Add ginger, garlic, green chilli paste, and saute well for 2 minutes.

3. Add 1 tsp garam masala and 1 tsp black pepper, saute well.

4. Add sliced tomatoes and mix well. Now place a lid and cook it for 5 minutes on low flame.

5. After 5 minutes open the lid and mix the gravy well. smash the tomatoes and mix them.

6. Now add 1 tbsp lime juice and mix it.

7. Add half a handful of mint leaves and a handful of coriander leaves. mix well. check for salt. add if needed.

8.Now place the fried fish on the top of the gravy and close the pan with a lid.

Rice Preparation

1. Place a big pan and add 2 tbsp ghee.

2. Add 4-5 cloves, 2 pieces cinnamon, 3 cardamoms, 2 bay leaves. mix it.

3. Add 2 cups of washed rice (not soaked), and fry the rice.

4. Add 3 cups of hot water and mix well.

5. Check for salt. Add salt if needed.

6. Place the flame to low and close the pan with a lid. wait for 8 - 10 minutes for the rice to cook.

Preparing Dum Biryani

1. Place a big pan for making Dum. Add half of Gravy/masala to the pan, spread it. Now add half of the rice on top of gravy and spread it.

2. Pour Turmeric water on the rice. sprinkle garam masala, add fried onions, Fried cashew, raisins, mint, and coriander leaves.

3. Add balance gravy on top of it and spread it evenly. now repeat adding turmeric water, mint leaves, coriander leaves, carrots, garam masala, cashew nuts, raisins, and fried onion.

4. Place the fish on the top.

5. Now cover the pan's top with aluminum foil and place the lid. Put the flame in a very low flame. Wait for 15 minutes.

6. Remove the biryani from the stove.

Tasty Fish Biryani is ready to serve.
